C. W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. maintains a strict policy against the unlawful manufacture, sale, distribution, dispensation, possession or use of any controlled substances (including marijuana). It is the intent of the company to comply with the Federal, DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE ACT OF 1988 and the FEDERAL MOTOR CARRIER safety regulations. As a condition of initial and continued employment, each employee remains subject to testing for illegal drugs at times to be selected by the Company. These times will include pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable cause testing and random testing.
The purpose of this policy is to eliminate unlawful use of controlled substances as a factor that contributes to job accidents, injuries and fatalities.
Any employee who is found to be engaging in the unlawful manufacture, sale, distribution, dispensation, possession, or use of a controlled substance (including marijuana), or who refuses to submit to a drug screen test, will have his/her employment terminated immediately.
A further purpose of this policy is to inform each employee that illegal use of controlled substances can result in adverse physical and mental health problems and even loss of life. Any employee who finds himself involved with the illegal use of a controlled substance (including marijuana) should seek the help of professional counseling before he/she is found to be in violation of this policy. The Risk Management and Personnel Departments are available to recommend sources for counseling and rehabilitation. For all employees designated to supervise drivers, the Company will provide a minimum of 60 minutes of alcohol misuse training and a minimum of 60 minutes of training on controlled substance abuse.
