Utility Laborer

Utility Laborers are the backbone of our operations at C.W. Matthews. In this role, you’ll assist team members with day-to-day tasks related to utility work, including shoveling, raking, moving equipment and materials, and cleaning up the job site. Every day is different, and your responsibilities will change depending on each project’s requirements. No matter what comes up, you’ll be on hand to support tradesmen, your fellow Utilities Laborers, and other team members as needed.

General Labor Tasks

• Load and unload materials required for utility projects.
• Operate hand and power tools as needed to cut and shape materials.
• Hand-dig to perform groundwork, bring manholes to grade, and prepare sites.

Job Site Maintenance

• Remove rubble, debris, trash, and other materials from job sites.
• Clean equipment and tools to facilitate proper operation.
• Move equipment and tools to the required locations.

Safety Protocol Adherence

• Wear personal protective equipment.
• Follow OSHA and C.W. Matthews safety guidelines.
• Monitor the safety of yourself and others.
