2025 Asphalt Construction Rodeo

Who Took Home the Champion Belt Buckle?

On March 10-12, our Asphalt Construction Division hosted our 3rd Annual Asphalt Rodeo at our Main Office in Marietta, Georgia! In years past, the Rodeo was a competition between our best Asphalt Roller Operators. This year, we changed it up and our Milling team got in on the action too. Over the course of three days, we held competitions on both the mini planer and the asphalt rollers to find out who would take home the 2025 Champion Belt Buckle!

The competition kicked off on Monday and Tuesday with our Roller and Mini Planer contestants tackling their courses, performing walk-around inspections, and taking written tests. The top contestants from each day advanced to the championship round on Wednesday, where they competed as a team. Our milling team milled the area behind our Shop, and the paving team followed by laying down and rolling hot asphalt. Throughout the event, expert judges from our manufacturing partners — Bomag, Caterpillar, Hamm, and Dynapac — evaluated the contestants’ skills. By Wednesday afternoon, the champions were crowned, each receiving the coveted champion belt buckle!

We couldn’t be more grateful for everyone who made the 2025 Rodeo a success! From our amazing operators who stepped up to compete and give it their all to the Asphalt Division team leaders who put in countless hours planning and executing — this event wouldn’t have been possible without you.

A special shoutout to Scott Hall for leading the charge over the past few months — coordinating, planning, and moving mountains to ensure this was a fun, team-building experience for our hardworking team. A huge thank you to AJ Lovingood — our favorite Rodeo Clown — who spent hours each day bringing the energy, encouragement, and a whole lot of fun to the competition. We also want to recognize Dylan Marbry, Mario Perez, Jeff Ensell, Tim Hayes, Shady Waldon, Shane Bunn, Joe Hartline, and Torri Thomason for their dedication in leading the way, serving behind the scenes, and making sure everything ran smoothly. Finally, we are extremely grateful to have leadership like Dan Garcia, Michael Bell, and Bill White that care for our people and allow our team to spend time and resources into a team-building event like the Rodeo.

Finally, a huge thank you to our partners and vendors who showed up to support our crew and made this event one to remember. Here’s to many more CWM Asphalt Rodeos in the future!
