Laborer

Labor job duties are continually changing depending on the requirements of each project. Laborers are expected to assist in the general operation of each job site.

Bulldozer Operator

Bulldozer Operator’s primary function is to operate Bulldozers grading dirt and aggregate, dressing slopes, pushing pans, operating attachments such as root rakes, stone spreaders, or disk assisting with all aspect of the grading operation. Equipment operators are also expected to assist in the general operation of each job site and to run other equipment as needed.

Water Truck Driver

The primary responsibility of the Water Truck Driver is to transport water for construction projects and crews working in remote sites. The position consists of but is not limited to the following duties:

The Equipment Servicer must perform daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety issues to a supervisor. In addition, the servicer is required to perform repairs to the equipment as needed. The position consists of but is not limited to the following duties:

Laborer

The Laborer will perform a wide range of general duties at a grading jobsite, including but not limited to: shoveling, moving materials, and maintain good housekeeping while adhering to all safety regulations. Experience working around Asphalt and/or construction equipment is preferred, but not required.

College Summer Internship

This is a PAID summer internship position, for college students currently enrolled in a construction related program, preferably Construction Management. This is a Full-Time summer employment commitment, and students may be expected to work some nights and weekends. Students selected, will work for C.W. Matthews for around 8 WEEKS getting valuable exposure to the heavy highway construction trade and to C.W. Matthews.

High School & College Internships

Front End Loader Operator

The Loader Operator moves, loads and handles materials within the jobsite with the use of heavy equipment. The Loader Operator will use large earth-moving machines, such as bulldozers, backhoes, excavators and front-end loaders and/or other huge machinery to lift, haul, push, roll, load and move aggregate and aggregate related materials.

Backhoe Operator

Backhoe Operator’s primary function is to operate all sizes of Backhoe both track and rubber tire assisting with all aspect of the grading operation. All equipment operators’ are expected to run other equipment such as Bulldozers and loaders as needed. Equipment operators are also expected to assist in the general operation of each job site.

Experienced Construction & Manufacturing

Project Engineer

The project engineer will be required to assist the project management team in the construction of multiple projects consisting of grading, concrete paving, bridges, retaining walls, and asphalt. Pre-construction responsibilities include scheduling, coordinating the development of all shop drawings and work plans necessary to begin work on a project.

High School: Work Based Learning Internship Position

This is a high school work based learning paid internship position, for students currently enrolled in high school who are 17 years or older and are interested in pursuing a career in the construction industry. Students selected go to school for part of the day, and work for C.W. Matthews the other part of day getting valuable exposure to the heavy highway construction trade.

High School Recent Graduate: Entry Level Career Position

This is an entry level position for a recent high school graduate who is interested in pursuing a career in the construction industry. Selected applicants will be placed in one of the company's operating divisions to begin their training in a construction trade.
