Everyone needs a TEAM. Every man and woman needs another they can count on, lean on, and trust. We all need someone in our lives who have our back because sometimes life gets hard. Whether that is on the job, at home, a personal issue, a financial matter, or even a legal problem… We need others that are for us.
Who is on your TEAM? Who can you call if times get hard? Who is in your circle that will help you when you need it most? I have a few people in my life who I know I can count on. People who I look to in troubling times. AND… I want to be the kind of guy that others can look to, trust, and lean on for help. I want to be a teammate that comes alongside others and brings them up… not down. That said, the greatest Teammate I have is the LORD Himself. Psalm 118 tells me this: “The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” (Psalm 118:6). Even when it seems like I don’t have a team or someone to lean on, I must remember: THE LORD IS FOR ME! And I would say, the Lord is for you. He is not against you. That’s why we do not have to fear.
The Psalmist doubles down in the next verse: “Yes, the Lord is for me, he will help me. I will look in triumph at those who hate me” (Psalm 118:7). Let me repeat this Truth: The Lord is for you. And what does that really mean? It means that HE WILL HELP YOU!!! And God’s help is golden! That’s why the Psalmist says, “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people” (Psalm 118:8). I encourage you to trust in God. Call on Him to help. Believe He can and will help you.
The Lord is for you. He will help you. He will answer you and set you free! Knowing this, it only makes sense that the Psalmist said, “In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free” (Psalm 118:5). If you are in distress, PRAY to the Lord. Then, reach out to me. I will help you. I am for you. Together, we will pray to the One who is for us, will answer us, and sets us free!
