US 278 and Old Mill Improvement Projects

Project Details

The US 278 and Old Mill Improvement Projects comprise three distinct projects designed to enhance access to new mega-site commercial developments in Morgan, Newton, and Walton Counties. C.W. Matthews recently completed the first contract, US278 Widening/I-20 Frontage Road, and the holds contract for the I-20 at CR 249/Old Mill Road Interchange Project.

The US 278 Widening and I-20 Frontage Road project involved not only the widening of US 278 but also the construction of a new frontage road along I-20 to provide enhanced accessibility to the Stanton Springs North development and surrounding areas. Construction for this project began in late 2023 and is scheduled to concluded early in 2024. The I-20 at CR 249/Old Mill Road Interchange Project, designed to relocate Old Mill Road over I-20 and introduce a new interchange and two roundabouts, commenced construction in mid-2024 and will be completed by the end of 2025. This project will provide direct access to the interstate along with new sidewalks and bike lanes.
