Walk This Way, Talk This Way

Steven Tyler and Aerosmith released the song: “Walk This Way” back in 1975. It was later remixed when Aerosmith and Run DMC released it again in 1986. With its catchy chorus and screaming guitar it rose and peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was awarded Best Rap Single in 1987 on Soul Train Music Awards.

While the theme and lyrics of the catchy song are sketchy at best, the chorus reminds me that what I say and how I live matter!

Paul tells the Thessalonians: “Live in a way that pleases God!”

“Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more.” (1 Thessalonians 4:1)

In 2023, let’s challenge one another to WALK and TALK in ways that please God. That means we need to “stay away” from some things (Read 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4). It means we should treat others well (Read 1 Thessalonians 4:6 – 8). Paul writes about “the importance of loving each other” (4:9). And, that we should make it our goal “to live a quiet life, minding our own business and working with your hands.” (4:11).

When we walk this way and talk this way… “then people who are not Christians will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others” (4:12). You will become an “example” to many (1:7) and your walk and talk will ring out from you to people everywhere (1:8).
