Utility Groundman

Utility Groundmen help us smoothly and efficiently lay pipe. As a valued member of our Utilities Division, you’ll work aboveground, hooking pipes and assisting crew members working down in the ditch. They’ll rely on you to get them the tools and equipment they need to get the job done. This role requires a lot of labor support; to succeed, you’ll need to prioritize teamwork and situational awareness. Working as a Groundman is a great way to learn the pipe-laying process and set the stage for a future in utilities.

Pipe Handling and Hooking

• Help load and unload pipes onto the construction site.
• Safely hook pipes to equipment for placement within the ditch.
• Ensure proper alignment and placement of pipes to project specifications.

Tool and Equipment Management

• Maintain an organized inventory of tools and equipment.
• Distribute tools and equipment to crew members working within the ditch.
• Monitor tool usage and ensure proper storage after use.
