US 278 and Old Mill Improvement Projects

Project Details

The US 278 and Old Mill Improvement Projects comprise three distinct projects designed to enhance access to new developments in Morgan, Newton, and Walton Counties. Currently, C.W. Matthews holds contracts for two of these projects: the US 278 Widening/I-20 Frontage Road and I-20 at CR 249/Old Mill Road Interchange Project.

The US 278 Widening and I-20 Frontage Road project involves not only the widening of US 278 but also the construction of a new frontage road along I-20 to provide enhanced accessibility to the Stanton Springs North development and surrounding areas. Construction for this project began in late 2023 and is scheduled to conclude early in 2024. Following this, the I-20 at CR 249/Old Mill Road Interchange Project, designed to relocate Old Mill Road over I-20 and introduce a new interchange and two roundabouts, is scheduled to commence construction in mid-2024 and be completed in 2025. This project will provide direct access to the interstate along with new sidewalks and bike lanes.
